8B ICT Lesson

In your ICT RE lesson today we are going to visit Nodehill School’s RE Site. Nodehill School is on the Isle of Wight.

A map showing the location of the Isle of Wight

We will look at the work of Mrs Bushell’s Year 7 RE class. They have been learning about the festival of Pentecost. They read the story of Pentecost in Acts 2, and made a picture that explains the story. They had to think about symbolism and the information that they wanted to get across. Then they wrote an evaluation of their own work, explaining what the pictures and symbols represent and why they chose them.

Your task? To look at the pictures, choose your favourite(s), then read the evaluations, and, using the success criteria, write comments on the post. When writing comments, only write your first name, and remember – 2 stars and a wish – write two things that are good about the picture or evaluation, and one way it could be even better.

I am writing about ______________’s evaluation.
One thing I thought was really good in the evaluation was …
Another thing I think the group did well was …
One way the picture / evaluation could be even better is …

You could copy those sentence starters and paste them into the comments box on the Nodehill School blog, and then complete them. Remember, the Year 7 pupils and all the pupils and teachers at Nodehill School will be reading those comments, so we want to give a good impression of our school and be encouraging and positive! I am looking forward to reading your comments too, and I know Miss Keogh is also looking forward to seeing what you have to say!

5.3 Homework

Homework is due on Monday 11 May.

Get a Voki now!

There are many troubles facing the world today – bullying, abuse of alcohol and drugs, global warming, making unhealthy choices, crime, prejudice, poverty – and, as in Old Testament times, perhaps God might be sending prophets to warn us of these dangers and to tell us how to live.

If God were to call you to be a modern day prophet, what message do you think he would want you to share?

How might you get that message across to the people?

Your homework is to get across the message that God might want to pass on to people today. Think about your audience – is the message for people at school, or for people in London, UK or the world? Is the message for young people or for adults?

Will your message be a comment on this blog? Or will you write your own “blog post”, which you can hand in to me at school? Or will you make a video that could be posted on the internet? Or make posters that we could stick up round the school? Or write a letter to the school council, or to a local (or national) newspaper? The choice is yours!

(If you type up your work and send it to me – see me for my school email – then I could post it here in future!)

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

5.2 Homework

Since we have missed a few lessons recently, I did not set homework last week. I look forward to receiving excellent homework this week! Remember, when no specific homework is set, you can look through this blog and complete some of the tasks set that you have not completed yet, and visit some of the websites. There is always more to learn!
