Creation and Evolution

I’ve found an interesting discussion on Christian responses to the theory of evolution:

It may be a bit difficult, but some of you might find it interesting!

1.2 Homework

Homework due on Monday 21 September 2009.

Complete another Olympic brick for our Peace Wall. Remember, our theme is the 2012 Peace Games, and some of the Olympic values that we thought about were:

* Striving
* Determination
* Peace/Unity
* Fair Play
* Friendship
* Optimism
* Inspiration

Use lots of colour, and make it as neat as possible – remember, it will be on display outside the chapel, so lots of pupils will see it!

Creation Story

This half term we will be learning about Creation. You can read the story of Creation as found in Genesis 1 by clicking here. Remember, you will need to compare it to the story found in Genesis 2!

Here is another version of Genesis 1.

1.1 Homework 1

This homework is to be handed in on Tuesday 15 September.

Complete the front cover for the Creation unit of work.

This front cover should include the aims, which you have copied in class, and should also include words and pictures which should be coloured in. Some of you have already started and are making good progress. The pictures should be on the theme of Creation, so could include images of the world, stars, hands, a brain, Biblical ideas of creation, images of Creation from other religions, images to do with how we should look after the environment … Anything which illustrates the idea of Creation.

Year 8 Creation Good Work

Creation

By the end of this unit, I will know:

* What are religious and scientific truths?
* What are the stories of Creation?
* How is God creator and sustainer?
* What does it mean to be created in the image of God?
* What is free will?
* How should we treat the environment?
