You have been learning about creation and stewardship of the earth. Do you think one person can make a difference? Watch the video, then leave a comment with your view.
Homework due on Monday 28 April.
This week we will be completing your assessment for the unit, The Paschal Mystery. However, your homework is to prepare for this half term’s new unit, The Prophetic Role of the Church, by producing the front page for this unit, using key words and pictures. Read the aims below to give you ideas for your cover. (Note: Be aware that the links given below may be biased, or may include mistakes. They are only meant as a starting point for any research you do, and I will give more links later in the term at the appropriate times.)
By the end of the unit we will know:
• What is God’s message proclaimed by the Prophets?
• How does Jesus fulfil the Old Testament prophecies?
• What is it like to be a follower of Jesus today?
• How was John Paul II an example of a Modern Day Prophet?
• How was Mother Teresa an example of a Modern Day Prophet?
• How was Jean Vanier an example of a Modern Day Prophet?
• How was Dorothy Day an example of a Modern Day Prophet?
• How was Archbishop Oscar Romero an example of a Modern Day Prophet?
I just found this website for the new BBC drama for Holy Week, The Passion. I would highly recommend watching this, especially since it fits in so well with what we are studying at the moment!
I would love to hear your comments and thoughts on the website and the programme.
Homework due on Thursday 24 January.
By this day you should have the following good copies written or typed up and handed to me, to put into your folder:
* Front Cover
* Reasons why people go to Mass
* Sign of the Cross (also here)
* Penitential Rite (also here and here.)
* The Liturgy of the Word: an overview
* Gloria
* Readings
Another good site, mentioned below. Please remember not to simply copy and paste from these sites. You are learning all you need to know in the lessons, and should be completing the work in class, simply copy up and adding extra details you did not have time to finish in class – the links to websites are simply to give you some more information in case you have forgotten. If you do use the websites, then add a bibliography to your booklet, with the website addresses linked.
Unfortunately I was absent yesterday, so no homework was set. However, I would like you to visit the following sites and leave a comment about what you like or would improve about each of them. Happy Advent!
This time from a pupil at another school, care of TeacherTube.
Download Video: Posted by mshearman at TeacherTube.com.
I hope the link works!
This is an interesting way of completing an assessment – the pupil has produced a video. I would be interested in hearing your comments – is this something that you would like to do in the future?
In fact, mshearman has a variety of pupil assessments hosted on TeacherTube – have a look at some of the others!
Homework is due on Monday 3 December.
Look at two or three of the links below, then review them in the comments box. You could use the sentence starters below to help write your review.

Here I am going to add some links that will help us with our lesson on the Passover today.
Matza: What’s up with it? – Follow this link to find a video that explains what matza is and why it is important at Passover.
During the Passover, the youngest child asks the head of the household four questions. How would you answer them?
How would you answer question 1?
How would you answer question 2?
How would you answer question 3?
How would you answer question 4?
Homework due on Friday 23 November.
Draw and label a picture of a seder plate in your exercise book in preparation for your next lesson.
You could find a picture in a library book, or follow the links. There are also some Jewish Passover seder games that you could play as you learn more about the Passover in preparation for our next lesson.
I would be interested in hearing your feedback – were these links useful for you? Did you play the game?
RE Quest Creation Game – Click on the link to remind yourself of the six days of Creation. Then you can explore the site further to think about how we can look after “Our World”.
On the same website you can find out more about St Francis of Assisi and about the environment in general.
Have fun exploring, and seeing what else you can discover!
